Chris Evans has announced that he is closing the Lickfold Inn. I have heard good things about it, but I never went there. Sounds like I never will now.

I am devastated that "the Lickfold" may be closing. I've been going there from time to time since the early 1970s, when I first got interested in my family's history.
The surname Lickfold is associated with this area back to the 1200s and I have established that all bearers of this surname, wherever they live in the world today, can be traced back to a local ancestor - often a farmer in Lurgashall parish in the 1700s.
So far as I know, since the days of "The Three Horseshoes" in the 1800s, there has always been a pub on this site. So it will be very sad if, in the turbulent economy of the early 21st century, this ceases to be the case.
I believe the building is listed, but what will become of it?
